In 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it topped the charts for most streamed songs during the course of 6 months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop that attracted attention to Latin music but as well reggaeton. In 2015, there were two mostly Spanish-language songs on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. But during the peak of Despacito's fame in 2017 there were 19 mainly Spanish tracks that made the top 100. In 2020, there were 41. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017 popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton artists. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated on MIA (2018) and Madonna teamed up with Maluma to record Medellin, 2019 The gradual mainstreaming of reggaeton became an issue for certain performers by the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, wanted to preserve the style. The genre often included elements of electronic dance music and other genres.
